Sonnets for Advent: Sunday week 2

based on Romans 15:4-13

The prophecies and histories of old
recorded in the scriptures were written
for our encouragement. In them we see
the LORD our God is faithful and fulfills
every jot and tittle of His word.
This hope, renewed by steady immersion
in scripture, gives us courage to endure.
Glorify God for this, everyone! We
live in the time of grace post incarna-
tion and cross where mysteries unknown
to patriarchs are already fulfilled.
So surely God will keep those unfulfilled.
The God of hope, whose mercies never cease,
fill you with hope and power and joy and peace.
