Sonnets for Advent: Saturday week 1

Based on Isaiah 60:19-22

As certain as the sunrise and the moon
waxes and wanes, I make this oath to you.
I’ve made a home for you where there’s no night
nor morning, for I’ll be your endless light,
your sunless sun. The glory of my face
will shine upon you everlastingly.
The morning and your mourning both will end
in this land coming, and all those who dwell
there will be righteous, pure. This is the in-
heritance I’ve promised to my chosen
children since you lost your home in Eden.
I’ll plant you there, renewed, in glorious light.
I am the LORD your God, and this I swear,
the time is hastening when you shall be there.
