Sonnets for Advent: Friday week 1

Based on Jeremiah 3:14-16

“Behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD,
“When I’ll fulfill the promise that I made
to David, Judah, and to Israel.
I promised them a legacy, a throne
and king to reign and rule with righteousness
and justice in the land. And though they have
adulterous been and broken faith with me,
I’ll call them from the wilderness and clothe
them in the clean, white garments of the pure.
Their offspring, branch of David’s seed, will bloom
upon the throne, and they will dwell secure
in Zion. Saved by grace alone through faith.
Once naked, lost, my people will be dressed
and safely home in, ‘God’s Our Righteousness.'”
