Sonnets for Advent: Wednesday week 1

Based on John 1:1-5

In the beginning was The Word. The Word
was God and dwelled with God in perfect u-
nion. And when The Word spoke the world began
to form. It was The Word that first brought life
to us, from single cell to complex, reasoning man.
This Word of Life made life and then became
one of that same life, low created man.
Fully God and fully man, The Word
the light of holiness, brought life again
into the world to shatter darkness’ veil.
In the beginning, incarnation, and
in a day coming light will charge forward.
So let this present darkness do its worst,
The Word of Life has overcome the earth.
