Sonnets for Advent: Saturday week 2

based on 1 Peter 2:5-9

Behold, in Zion God has laid a stone,
a cornerstone, a precious chosen foun-
dation to His glorious plan of re-
demption. The garden temple of E-
den was lost to us by means of Adam’s
sin, which taints each living soul but one:
New Adam, Jesus, cornerstone laid down,
and we renewed and living stones are be-
ing built now into a new temple. What
great honor! Sinners given sight and made
a holy nation, royal priesthood. Once
rejected, Jesus now is cornerstone!
Declare and sing the light of glorious LORD
who called us forth from darkness by His Word.
