Sonnets for Advent: Saturday week 3

Based on Luke 3:1-6

I wander in this wilderness alone
despite the hordes who wander here with me.
For there is so much pain and so much sor-
row in me that cannot be salved by man.
I’d reached the point where I wanted to give
up entirely, when I heard a voice
cry out across the barren, fruitless ground,
“Prepare they way of the LORD make His paths
straight.” Then my blind eyes opened and I saw
The Way, The Truth, and The Life level all
the obstacles that stood between me and
God. Now I know the way to be restored.
Christ first came lowly, born in tiny town,
but soon all flesh will see Him wear a crown.
